As a seasoned and respected trial lawyer, Mr. Elwood became Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law in 1999, a special distinction achieved by less than 2% of the lawyers practicing in Texas. He was re-certified in 2004, 2009 and 2014.

Mr. Elwood is a member of the State Bar of Texas and admitted to practice before the Texas Supreme Court, all Texas Trial and Appellate Courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
Mr. Elwood received his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1988, where he participated in Moot Court and Mock Trial. Mr. Elwood also attended the University of Houston for his undergraduate studies, where he received a B.A. in Political Science in 1985 and was a member of the Dean's List.
